Since the new patch 2.1.0. that was just implemented in Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls, the whole system changed. Now you have more than 1 type of rifts, the most challenging being the Greater Rifts. There might be many people wondering what's all this fuss around Rifts ? Well, people like to farm, kill monsters, get items, increasing level or paragon level, you know.. Rifts are a good way to do it, so of course they want to know how to enter the Greater Rifts and everything else there is to know about rifting!!
In order to open a Greater Rift, you must first open a normal rift (as u did until now) from the Nephalem Obelisk located in town. After you finish the dungeon, and by finish I mean killing the Rift Boss at the end, you will get a Rift Trial Key, where your powers will be tested if u open the realm.
With that you will go in town at the Nephalem Obelisk and use it to open a Rift of Trials. As u enter, in a few seconds the first wave of monsters will spawn. You have a certain time to defeat each wave. The more waves you defeat, your rank will increase. At the end you will receive several Greater Rift Keys with a certain RANK, depending on how you perform on the trials. With those Greater Rift stones you will open the Greater Rifts.
Also, bear in mind that there will be a considerable difference between the normal rifts and the greater rifts, but the rewards are different as well!
