We now have confirmation that when Diablo 3 will launch, there will be no PvP available. But fear not, you'll have more time focusing on your characters, on the campaign and of course, on the item hunt. PvP arenas in Diablo 3 will become available with a later big patch that will follow the launch (I think a few months later).
Personally, if this means that the game will be released sooner, I'm glad this is happening. There is no purpose to have million of players raging about another delay, just for PvP. The motivation Blizzard has for this decision is that the current state of the PvP in Diablo 3 is not at their high quality standards just yet.
Anyway I played Diablo 3 beta for countless hours now (with all five classes) and I'm really looking forward to the release of this epic game.
