Many people will say that the sorcerer is by far the best DPS class in the game but I strongly disagree. Take the spiritmaster for example. He has powerful instant and castime DOTS, some good nukes and the pet. The sorcerer has insane nukes and some good dots. Well I think the sorcerer inflicts more damage in the first 10 seconds of the fight, but if the spiritmaster survives 20-30 seconds, and you calculate all the damage from dots, pet and nukes I think he ties the sorcerer, maybe even tops it.
Now lets take a look at the assassin. He has highest crits in the game, and can make huge damage in a short period of time. The only thing I have againt the assassin is that his atacks are melee and you expose yourself too much. The ranger on the other hand can do lots of damage at long range, but it is even more vulnerable than the assassin at close range combat.
These four classes are the most offensive classes in Aion. So witch one of them is best DPS class in the game. In my opinion in PvE at one random boss properly tanked by a templar, in three minutes of fighting the most damage is made by the assassin. In the first 10-15 seconds of a fight the sorcerer will be the best DPS class, and after 30 seconds the spiritmaster tops the sorcerer. Anyway there are factors like range, elemental resistances, phisical defence and most important the skill and strategy of the player.
